Elderly woman sustains critical injuries in R101 taxi and car collision

The patient sustained injuries to the head and a fracture on the left arm.

A 60-year-old woman was left in critical condition following a collision between a taxi and a car in the early hours of Saturday.

Ambu-Link Emergency Medical Services operations manager, Albert Jansen van Nieuwenhuizen, said Ambu-Link received a call at about 04:55.

Albert said the crash happened on the R101 road in the Pretoria north area. It seems the taxi was travelling towards the Pretoria central region.

He said the exact cause of the crash is not clear.

On arrival of the paramedics, it was discovered that the taxi had collided with a VW Citi Golf.

He said the taxi had passengers inside it and the VW only the driver.

“We treated a 60-year-old woman on the scene, as she sustained critical injuries,” he said.

The woman was a passenger in the taxi.
