Pretoria West SAPS visit Feetijeland daycare centre

The children enjoyed a presentation by the officers on the freedoms that they are entitled to.

Pretoria West police visited a local daycare centre last week to educate the children about the importance of knowing their rights.

The children at Feetjieland daycare centre enjoyed a presentation by the officers on the freedoms that they are entitled to and how they can protect themselves.

According to Pretoria West communication officer Constable Sibongile Vuma, the aim was also to build trust between the children in the area and the police.

The children were told about the work police do around the area and shown different types of equipment officers carry including firearms, pepper spray, torches and handcuffs.

“We encourage learners to be smart and stay focused in school instead of having interests in criminality, warning them about how small things like stealing at school and home can lead one to become a future criminal,” said Vuma

The children were taught catchy songs about their rights to remember the information presented to them which they sang at the end of the proceedings.

“The children appreciated seeing the police and enjoyed our presentation which left them inspired and hopefully wanting to become future police officials,” concluded Vuma.
