REMINDER: Water shutdown to hit parts of Pretoria from Friday
Rand Water has changed the times for the shutdown.
Tshwane residents are urged to bulk up on water before the 87-hour water shutdown that is expected to hit parts of the metro from Friday at 17:00.
The planned shutdown will last until August 23 at 08:30 as Rand Water announced that it needs to conduct a tie-in of the newly installed pipeline.
The power utility has changed the times of the shutdown to minimise the impact on the water supply by doing most of the planned work during the evenings.
Residents are advised to do their washing before the shutdown begins and store water in the bath for flushing purposes.
Storing drinking water before Friday is advised and pool water could also come in handy for flushing toilets.
The shutdown does, however, not mean that residents will be without water for 87 hours.
Utilities and regional operations MMC Daryl Johnston said taps will only run dry if reservoirs run dry.
He urged residents to use water sparingly during the shutdown as it will prevent reservoirs from reaching empty levels.
