Help Cansa with a Cuppa today
By hosting their own Cuppa event, residents can help raise funds for Cansa in its fight against cancer.
Residents can do their bit in fighting cancer by helping Cansa raise funds by hosting their own “Cuppa for Cancer” event this year.
“The aim is to socialise and have fun with family and friends while raising funds, ” said Cansa marketing head Lucy Balona.
“The funds raised will be used to support and provide care for those affected by cancer.”
Five Roses is the official Cuppa for Cansa tea partner and has come on board once again by sponsoring tea for each event.
The campaign will be taking off again this year after being on hiatus during the pandemic.
“Participants may either host a Cuppa event or attend as a guest,” Balona explained
The first step is to register as a host on the Cuppa For Cansa website or email adewitt@cansa.org.za.
Registration is open to individuals as well as corporations.
“A regional Cansa staff partner will contact you to discuss details about your event such as the date and venue.
“We’ll also discuss whether you would like to arrange a cancer survivor or celebrity guest speaker as well as help you with invitations and relevant marketing materials.”
Hostesses can host events under this year’s theme, “Time to Take Heart Together” and share Cansa’s online support groups and resources to encourage those affected by cancer.
“Alternately, hostesses can choose their own theme. They can even use Cuppa to mark a special day by hosting a ‘Birthday Cuppa’ or ‘Women’s Day Cuppa’.
“It is up to the hosts to tie in aspects such as décor, beverages and snacks with the theme,” said Balona.
Cansa national sustainability manager Anita Snyders said after two years of hosting virtual Cuppa events, they are so excited to come together with loved ones, friends and colleagues.
“We came together not only to spend time with one another, but to support the fight against cancer.
“Cancer is not a disease to be fought alone, and cancer patients, loved ones and caregivers need our support and encouragement,” Snyders said.
Snyders said Cuppa for Cansa was one of the highlights on the Cansa calendar as this event brings people together in a fun way.
“The event gives people the opportunity to inspire and make a difference to those affected by cancer by enabling our care and support programmes.
“We hope you will support your local Cuppa event(s) this year,” said Snyders.
