Man cut free from car wreckage on N1 following accident
Local emergency services and paramedics spent nearly an hour cutting the entrapped motorist from his car before transporting him to a nearby hospital.
A man believed to be in his thirties, had to be cut free from a wrecked car near Botha Avenue on the N1 in Centurion on Sunday morning.
This after he became entrapped in the car following a serious motor vehicle accident, according to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen.
He said paramedics responded to the scene of the accident at about 06:15.
“On arrival, a light motor vehicle was found to have left the roadway, overturning several times before coming to rest in a culvert adjacent to the roadway.
“Closer inspection found the driver, a male of approximately 30 years of age, severely entrapped in the wreckage.
“Fire and Rescue services worked for close to an hour to cut the man free and rapidly transport him by ambulance to a nearby hospital for further treatment.”
The man is in critical condition in hospital. The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage.
