Operation Okae Molao focuses on wanted suspects in Kameeldrift and Sinoville areas
Detective teams all around Tshwane conducted a tracing for wanted suspects from the evening of August 24 to the early hours of August 25, resulting in 332 wanted suspects being arrested.
Operation Okae Molao focused on the Kameeldrift and Sinoville area and yielded positive successes, as over 400 people were nabbed and 332 were arrested during the tracing of wanted suspects.
Detective teams all around Tshwane held a tracing for wanted suspects from the evening of August 24 to the early hours of August 25. Ninety-nine of the 332 wanted suspects that were arrested were for crimes related to gender-based violence.
The multi-disciplinary operation was led by the acting district commissioner, Brigadier Kushie Pietersen, and the operation commander, Brigadier Naidoo supported by Brigadier Matji and Brigadier Kgoadi.
Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said the integrated operation included various law enforcement agencies, including Gauteng traffic, the TMPD, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Labour, Department of Correctional Services, Gauteng Community Safety and the CPF chairperson.
“The operation focused on crime prevention, roadblocks, compliance of liquor and secondhand-goods outlets, searching for stolen or illegal goods being transported, illegal firearms, drugs, stolen or hijacked vehicles, and stolen livestock, and the detectives tracing wanted suspects.
“A total of 58 undocumented persons were detained as they will be further processed by the Department of Home Affairs, three people for possession of drugs, one for reckless driving, one person for bribery and defamation of character.
“During the roadblock, 400 fines were issued to the value of R151 500, 689 vehicles and 1 167 persons searched, 23 vehicles were tested to check if not stolen and 45 vehicle checkpoints were conducted.”
The acting district commissioner, Brigadier Pietersen, thanked SAPS officers and other law enforcement agencies for their continuous contribution to these operations.
“We can only win the fight against crime when we work together.
“The public is encouraged to take safety precautions and be vigilant all the time.”
Suspects were issued fines and others will appear before different magistrate’s courts soon.
