Mamelodi Sundowns give trophy, prize money to Nellmapius centre
“We view the centre as champions like Mamelodi Sundowns FC. Champions deserve a trophy, therefore we donating a trophy to the centre and prize money,” said Motsepe.

Mamelodi Sundowns FC donated a trophy, 12 champions T-shirts and money to the Give Them Hope foundation in Nellmapius ext. 2 on Sunday.
The chairperson of Mamelodi Sundowns, Hlopi Motsepe, said the donations were to commemorate international charity day, which was held on September 5.
He said they chose the centre because “it is taking care of our community children, the caregivers are doing a special job and are also wonderful parents to the children”.
“We view the centre as champions like Mamelodi Sundowns FC. Champions deserve a trophy; therefore, we are donating a trophy to the centre and prize money,” said Motsepe.
“We love the good job the centre is doing for the community,” he said.
Matshidiso Mothiba from Give Them Hope Foundation thanked the Mamelodi Sundowns club for recognising the hard work they are doing in the community.
“The generous donations will bring a huge difference in the centre and the community as we also feed 40 children in Nellmapius,” Mothiba said.
Give Them Hope Foundation was started in 2009 when Mothiba decided to shut down her tavern.
Today it is operating as a home for destitute children.
She said it all started when she was helping out in the community with donations such as food parcels for needy families with the profit money she was making from her tavern.
The idea to start a shelter then came when she was supposed to take care of three siblings whose mother was hospitalised then.
“The community of Nellmapius need to learn to give and see the difference they can make in these children’s lives.
“Every day is a struggle to feed a child.” She pleaded with parents in the community to come and spend a day with her at her home.
“The children don’t need much – all they want is to be loved.”
The Mamelodi Sundowns officials also spent the day with the children at the centre playing games and singing Kabo Yellow Sundowns’ favourite songs at the stadium.
