Spring events to look out for in Pretoria

Look out for these upcoming spring events.

Oktoberfest, Mr and Miss Gay Pride Pretoria crowning, Irene-Louise van Wyk, Wine and dine and arts festivals are some of the events to look out for in Pretoria in the coming weekends.

Oktoberfest (September 15, 16, and 17)

Beer lovers can get excited for the 2022 Oktoberfest, with live music, the popular Biergarten, authentic German food, craft beer and children’s entertainment. This annual event is once again at the Deutsche Internationale Schule in Pretoria.

Live music by the Kronwildkrainer Oompah band from Niederösterreich and Velvet Sounds will be playing on the main stage. Stalls at the market will also be selling German treats and souvenirs.

Mr and Miss Gay Pride Pretoria (September 17)

Ahead of South Africa’s Pride month in October, and the Pretoria Pride march and festival on October 1, catch this year’s crowning of Mr and Miss Gay Pride Pretoria at the Barnyard Menlyn. Tickets will be available at the door, but buying from one of the finalists can count towards their category entry.

Toeka tot Nou (September 23)

HTS John Vorster turns 60 in 2022 and they will celebrate in style with the likes of Ghapi, Rooksein, Jo Black, Bernice West, and Pretoria FM Aitsa Artist of the Year nominee, Irene-Louise van Wyk. The event will be hosted at the school.

 

This festival will also have exhibitions, food stalls and activities such as target archery.

Heritage Day at Railways Cafe (September 24)

Catch December Streets, Black Cat Bones, Lungelo Moyo, Straatligkinders, Bad Peter and more for your Heritage Day activity. There will be two stages to catch 11 acts, as well as a vinyl market.
The event celebrates a diverse line-up as South Africa celebrates its cultural wealth.

La Fiamma & Louisvale Winemakers dinner (September 28)

La Fiamma restaurant in Faerie Glen will be having an Italian-inspired food and wine dinner with pairings by Louisvale Wines.

Chef Jarrid has put together a four-course menu with six wine pairings. The event starts at 18:00 and will cost R450, which includes the four-course meal with wine pairings. Just the thing for wine and fine food lovers!

Momentum Beleggings Aardklop National Arts Festival (September 30-October 9)

The Momentum Beleggings Aardklop National Arts Festival is heading for Jacaranda city this year, with productions at various theatres in Pretoria culminating in a four-day festival at the Voortrekker Monument from October 6 to 9.
