Man in wheelchair need to be flown back from Dubai in special medical airplane
To fly Andre Human back in a medical plane is extremely costly for the family.
After she dropped her son off at the airport two years ago, Emmie Schoeman never imagined the ordeal her family would go through two years later.
Human was living and working in Dubai for two years before he was involved in a massive car accident which left him with a broken back in August.
“I never imagined I would go fetch him in a wheelchair. If only it were so simple to fetch him and put him on a flight back to South Africa,” Emmie told Rekord.
Schoeman said the accident has thrown her whole life upside down.
“Everything is so complicated now.
“If only I could get my son back in South Africa then things will be a lot easier.”
Schoeman said Human will have to be flown back to South Africa in a special medical aeroplane.
“My son can’t walk and can’t even sit in his wheelchair for more than two hours.”
To fly Human back in a medical plane is extremely costly for the family.
Schoeman was able to fly to Dubai to see how her son was doing earlier this month.
“It is very difficult to see what he has to go through every day.
“I don’t have a driver’s licence here so I can’t drive around, and it’s too hot to push him around outside.”
Schoeman said she will stay by his side for as long as she can.
“He needs me now more than ever and I know that being present by his side is much more effective than any medicine or treatment they can give him.”
Schoeman said the most difficult thing to see is how painful his recovery has been.
For him to have any chance of walking again, Human has to go through tiring and painful physical therapy every day.
“The chronic pain and cramps make the days so much longer for him.
“But every day that he doesn’t get weaker, is a step forward for us.
“I pray to God every day that we can bring him back home to South Africa so we can be by his side.”
Human and his family are in dire need of donations to bring him back home and call on the people of South Africa to help them.
