Pretorian Muller Brandt releases his long-awaited album, Brand die Skepe
Brand die Skepe couldn’t have come at a better time as it really speaks to Brandt’s roots, from 'Moedertaal', a passionate ode to a people, love, life and faith, to 'Braaibroodjies', a cool and catchy country inspired dance song, perfect for a Saturday afternoon braai.
Pretoria Afrikaans singer, Muller Brandt, has released his long-awaited first full album, Brand Die Skepe.
Brandt has been in the music industry for 12 years.
The 30-year-old singer is Pretoria born and raised and has always had dreams of being a full-time singer.
He is inspired by country music, and draws his influences from Theuns Jordaan, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash, among others. He has a passion for all things Afrikaans.
He previously told Rekord, “I want people to love their language and inspire them to speak it, write in Afrikaans and speak it every day”.
Brandt has also released the stunning music video for the title track, “Brand Die Skepe”. Brandt’s voice is soothing as he sings of hope and heartbreak in this powerful song. Brandt said that this song tells his own story. “This song is very personal to me because the message behind it portrays my story so beautifully.”
The album has something for every situation, from deep meaningful lyrics to catchy sing-along songs that are crafted to work their way to your dancing shoes.
Brandt said that he wanted to produce an album that truly represented him and the sound he is best at. He focused on creating the perfect listening experience. “I believe that a good song should sound good without production, so if I can play it on the guitar, without elements, and it sounds good, I put it on.”
Brandt worked closely with Jattie de Beer on this album, with contributions from Riaan Beande, Marno van der Merwe and Jako Meyer.
“I have influences and people who inspire me, but Jattie de Beer and I managed to get my sound and record it. If you listen to the album you can look forward to 100% Muller Brandt.”

Brandt hopes this album will inspire his listeners to laugh, cry and dance with him as he unpacks his essence in Brand Die Skepe.
The album was released on September 9 and is available on most streaming platforms.
