Irene school invites community members to fundraising walk

The walk wants to raise funds for the school’s year-end function.

The Irene Middle Farm School has invited members of the public to join them on their first inauguration fun walk.

The fundraising walk is expected to take place on October 12.

School principal Judah Moyela said the initiative wanted to allow learners to experience life outside classes.

“The fun walk is important in that it takes learners out of the class,” Monyela added.

He said the walk will also encourage team spirit as learners work towards a common goal.

Florah Tshipu, the school’s foundation phase head of department, told Rekord that the walk was to also raise funds for the school’s year-end function.

“The walk will kick off at the school gate and end at old age home at Smuts House,” she said.

Tshipu further said the public can support the school by being part of the walk and also by contributing R10.

Irene Farm School has 540 learners with 19 staff and teachers. Most of the learners enrolled at the school are from Tembisa even though Centurion is its “feeder area”.
