SANDF soldier killed, two injured in Pretoria shooting

“The incident occurred when the soldiers were off duty,” an SANDF spokesperson said.

A South African National Defence Force (SANDF) soldier was killed and two injured in a shooting in Atteridgeville in the west of Pretoria on Saturday.

SANDF spokesperson Brigadier General Andries Mokoena Mahapa confirmed the shooting.

Mahapa said following the shooting the soldiers were taken to a military hospital in Thaba Tshwane for treatment.
“The incident occurred when the soldiers were off duty,” he said.

The police are investigating the incident, Mahapa added.

“The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Thandi Modise, the Deputy Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Thabang Makwetla, the Secretary for Defence, Sonto Kudjoe, and the Chief of the South African National Defence Force, General Rudzani Maphwanya, and the entire defence family send their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”
