Sundowns ladies five away from century
Sundowns have scored 95 goals this season, eight more than last season's 87 tally.
The women’s football defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are five away from scoring a hundred goals in the Hollywoodbets super league.
Masandawana ladies have already broken last season’s tally of 87 goals.
They now sit at 95 goals from 25 matches played having conceded just 11 times, the best defence in the league.
Boitumelo Rabale, Miche Minnies, Andisiwe Mgcoyi, Melinda Kgadiete and Rhoda Mulaudzi have been lethal in front of goal in scoring 57 goals collectively this season.
On Wednesday, the champions registered their 22nd win of the season following a 0-2 victory over JVW FC at Wits Main Stadium.
Masandawana ladies were dominant in winning six matches in a row since their 1-0 defeat away to TUT Ladies FC last month.
Before the last match, the Brazilians were boosted by the return of their Banyana Banyana stars last weekend.
Boitumelo Rabale and Miche Minnies are tied on 16 goals apiece with Andisiwe Mgcoyi on 10 strikes, Melinda Kgadiete 8 and Rhoda Mulaudzi 7.
Midfielder Kgadiete told the club website that scoring the only goal on her return from international duty felt great.
“It’s such a great feeling to score on my return to the team. We faced an opponent who was aiming to keep us from finding the back of the net,” she was quoted as telling the website.
She said their excellence in adversity shows why they are the defending champions.
“We always find a way to win, and we showed that again today. We are not resting on our victories, and we are already looking on to the next one,” she said.
They remain top of the league on 67 points with six games to go.
