Organisation needs donations to continue feeding needy

An unemployed mother of four has opened her heart by starting the Kagoentle community organisation in Winterveldt to feed over 70 children once a week.
Oageng More described the Slovoville informal settlement as an area with no basic humanitarian services and water and electricity are scarce.
“We are raising young men and women in this environment with the bare minimum and I fear that in these conditions we will raise children with major anger issues due to their circumstances.
“During the Covid-19 pandemic, most parents lost their jobs and most till this day are unemployed. We also have single mothers that do odd jobs just to make ends meet.”
“While the cost of living has affected all South Africans due to price hikes, it has had a damaging effect on those who were already living on the bare minimum, to begin with.
“I decided to feed the children in my community as it broke my heart to hear that some children go to bed with no food and only look forward to the meal they might receive at school.”
“Vouchers from various retail outlets to buy food for the organisation, as well as a partnership with Kit Kat, have helped deliver meals to the beneficiaries.
“We are hoping that it could be a weekly thing as I do not want the children to feel like they are living in poverty or raised without bare basics.
“I believe this centre will bring positive change to the community at large, I hope that in December we would be able to distribute food parcels to the 78 beneficiaries that we serve.
“I wish we could do more, however, due to affordability we cannot take in any more beneficiaries.
“The goal of the organisation is to raise happy children with a high sense of self-esteem.
“While the passion and the will to continue serving the kids of the community still burns, all these feedings would not be possible without the donations of companies and community members.”
The organisation wishes to have a standard kitchen with a gas stove, however, it currently doesn’t have enough kitchen equipment, including containers where it can prepare food.
