Two suspected diesel thieves arrested in Capital Park
The police recovered 11 containers filled with diesel.
Two suspected diesel thieves were arrested on Thursday morning in Capital Park.
According to Kilner Park Security, they were conducting patrols with SAPS when they picked up strange heat signatures next to the railway line.
They saw three suspects carrying 25-litre plastic containers and the SAPS were soon in pursuit of the suspects.
Two of the three suspects were arrested and the police recovered 11 containers filled with diesel taken from the locomotive.
There has been a noticeable increase in fuel and diesel theft this year, according to police.
Fidelity Services Group reported that there has been a trend of thieves drilling into fuel tanks of vehicles or siphoning the fuel directly from the tanks.
They advised motorists to keep their cars out of sight when parked at night.
