No arrest yet in Centurion Grade 1 learner culpable homicide
Police say they are awaiting post-mortem results.

No arrest has been made in the culpable homicide of Curro Thatchfield independent school learner Azania Madonsela.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Gert Adolf Corbett told Rekord the culprit could not be arrested at this stage as the police were still busy with the investigation.
“We cannot effect an arrest until such time we have collected all the details surrounding the incident.
“We are also awaiting the results of the post-mortem and as soon as we have all the necessary information then we can proceed to the next stage,” Corbett said.
Madonsela was struck by a car in the school parking lot on Wednesday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased’s mother was still on the premises when the incident happened.
Soon after, the school issued a statement confirming the unfortunate untimely passing of little Azania.
“Curro holdings confirms that a Grade 1 learner at Curro Thatchfield, Centurion, tragically passed away after an incident involving a car accident in the school parking lot.
“Curro’s deepest sympathy and thoughts are with the family and all involved in this terrible tragedy,” the statement read.
In bidding Madonsela farewell, the school said it was shattered by her passing, adding that “it will forever shine her light and celebrate her at all times”.
“Azania, until we meet again, Curro Thatchfield will work to change our community.
“We will build on your life and legacy,” the school said.
CEO Andries Greyling assured parents that the school was a safe place and the safety of the learner was a priority.
Greyling said in a statement: “The safety and security of Curro’s learners and staff remain our top priority and we take a proactive approach in seeking to prevent incidents of this nature.”
“If any incident of reckless driving occurs on our properties, we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to book.
“We are there to protect the young lives under our care and will do everything in our power to do so.”
Details of Madonsela’s memorial and funeral were unknown at the time of publication.
