Centurion dance students seek funding for international trip

Dance crew to participate in the International Dance Masters competition in Croatia.

Blissed Dance students are seeking sponsors to fund their international trip to Croatia.

The students’ plea follows their qualification to compete in the International Dance Masters competition in the central European country in May next year.

Student dancer Amber Peel said she was extremely happy and proud that the group qualified to compete on the international stage, but said their challenge was the means to get there.

“I am so proud to say that all of our dancers have qualified to compete in the Dance Masters 2023.

“Unfortunately being the small studio that we are, the funds to be able to go to Croatia are minimal,” Peel said.

She appealed to business people and ordinary community members to lend a hand and assist them to realise their dreams.

“We are in search of sponsorships or friendly people to help us realise this once-in-a-lifetime dream.”

The group requires around R300 000, for all its six members to go to Croatia.

“Please help us to take advantage of the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We will post your sponsorship on our social media platforms, as well as at our studio and on our jackets and T-shirts. As you have seen, we have grown significantly and have improved our own results at each competition.”

Throughout their careers, group members have done well in competitions such as the Dance World Cup, where they came up in second place for senior contemporary solo and jazz duo, and third for modern group.

In April, they won silver in the lyrical solo, gold for the contemporary solo, silver for ballet solo and gold each for jazz duo, modern trio as well as show dance trio.

Among many trophies they won, they also scooped two golds for senior solos, a silver each for solo, duo, and trio as well as a bronze for modern, contemporary and ballet at the SABOD (South African Body of Dance) performing arts competition in May 2022.
