Flood hits Centurion, residents advised to avoid risk areas
Centurion hit by yet another flood.
Centurions have been urged to avoid the Witstinkhout bridge hit by flash flooding on Tuesday morning.
Tshwane metro emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso advised residents to avoid routes in Region 4 including the bridge, flooded during the heavy rainfall.
“Residents should avoid End, Rabie, Blackwood and Lyttelton streets as well as Centurion Lake Hotel bridge, Nellmapius bridge, and SuperSport Park bridge,” Mabaso said.

He further said the emergency team was monitoring all known flooding hotspots in the area.
“Monitoring of the known hotspots by the Emergency Services Department during heavy rains is part of the flood incident management plan to identify areas, communities and households at risk.

“This enables a coordinated and integrated approach by line function departments responsible for implementing the plan.”
