Black Dragons biker club spoils kids from children’s home

Thirty-six children in need and about 30 bikers spent the day together.

The kids of Huis Ebenhaèser children’s home were treated to a special day with the Black Dragons motorcycle club on Sunday, November 6.

The Black Dragon motorcycle club heard about the need and decided to sponsor a day at Grizzlies Water Park.

Thirty-six children in need and about 30 bikers spent the day together.

A full fleet of bikers showed up at the children’s home in the morning, after which they were escorted in a convoy to the water park. Once there, each child was allowed to choose a bike to enjoy a short ride and take some photos of the special occasion.

“The kids were so excited. One boy spotted a blue bike and said ‘this bike is mine’. He went on almost all the bikes,” said Black Dragons spokesperson Lezel Breet.

“It was so awesome to make a dream for some of these kids come true.”

Breet explained that what started as sponsoring a day to Grizzlies quickly grew as a R50 donation here and a pizza there eventually became a day packed with treats and fun.

The children were then treated to fun in the sun, swimming, pizza, boerewors rolls, sweets packs, and each received a teddy bear from their new biker friends. Some of the kids even got to make a video of a popular TikTok dance.

“People often have a bad perception of bikers,” said Breet, “but we have good hearts and we just want to make a difference”.

The Black Dragons take in donations of clothing, food, shoes, books, and sponsorships to make a difference in their communities.

“Children’s homes often don’t have a lot of funds, so we love doing kids events.”
