They could set another record that might be hard to break by becoming two-time CAFWCL winners.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies are headed to the CAF Women’s Champions League final following a 1-0 win over Simba Queens on Wednesday, November 9.

Only 90 minutes and a couple of goals separate the defending champions from retaining their title.

They will pay Asfar Club in the final on Saturday, November 12, at 20:00.

After helping her team go through to the finals, Boitumelo Rabale said they went into the tournament with one goal, which was to retain the title.

“I just want us to win the last match and bring the title home,” she said.

She said playing Simba Queens was not easy because their opponents went to the match looking to progress to the finals too.

Masandawana Ladies coach Jerry Tshabalala credited his players and technical staff for the work they have done thus far.

“It was all a team effort,” he said.

He said the team had a bad first half against Simba, but they came back guns blazing in the second half to win the match.

“They pushed us to the limit. At some point, I felt like we would go to extra time and I’d have to be extra careful with how I make changes,” he said.

He said he enjoyed the game and learned a lot of things in that match.

Following their victory on Wednesday, the champions took to social media to announce that they will release a documentary detailing the challenges they faced when they played their first CAFWCL.
