Centurion businessman kidnapped in Olifantsfontein
The Gova family is devastated after Ranga was kidnapped last Thursday night and they haven't heard from his kidnappers yet.
The kidnappers of a Centurion businessman have yet to contact his family to make demands for his release.
Ranga Gova (35) was kidnapped while driving his wife’s car on his way home. The incident happened at around 20:00 last Thursday, November 3, at the Midstream Mediclinic traffic lights.
Gova’s mother, Otilia Gova, told Rekord that the family was still trying to come to terms with what has happened to her son.
“My daughter-in-law and I are still in shock. We are devastated and we don’t know what to do. The kidnappers have not contacted us and the police are telling us they are still looking for them.”
Otilia described her son as a “gentle human being who wouldn’t hurt a soul” and she couldn’t understand why anyone would abduct him for no reason.
In CCTV footage, Ranga is seen driving up to the intersection in a grey Mercedes-Benz, before one vehicle stops next to him and a second vehicle stops behind him
Suspects exit a car, grab Ranga and then shove him into the second car, which then speeds off.
The intersection is reported to be only minutes from Gova’s home. The kidnapping was also witnessed by an Uber driver and a security guard.
Ranga’s car was discovered a short distance from the couple’s home on Saturday.
Olifantsfontein police are investigating the case.
The family urged anyone who might have any information on the kidnapping to contact the police.
