Popular TikTok influencer to star in Binnelanders

“I have always loved acting and would love to make it part of my career.”

TikTok fans can look forward to seeing their favourite local influencer, Chané Grobler, on TV from November 15-22.

Chané, who boasts more than 2.5 million followers on TikTok (@chanegrobler) and is known for her authentic content, is very excited to show off her acting skills when she will be making a guest appearance on the popular kykNET soap Binnelanders, later this month.

“I am still speechless about this wonderful opportunity that has come my way.

“To be able to meet the actors I’ve watched on television growing up in real life and to get to know them was a huge honour,” she said.

“It was wonderful to learn words, work on set and just do everything that goes with it.

“I have always loved acting and would love to make it part of my career.”

The team at Binnelanders also enjoyed working with the social media star.

“We reckoned that a lot of Chané’s fans also watch Binnelanders and would enjoy seeing her on the show.

“Luckily, she passed the auditions with flying colours, and we came up with an amazing storyline for her,” says producer Elsje Stark.

“She was well prepared and very professional on set, and it was a pleasure working with her.”

Chané was born in Louis Trichardt and grew up in Pretoria, where she still lives today.

After matriculating at Hoërskool Wonderboom in 2018, she enrolled to study Education at Aros College, but left in her second year when it became too difficult for her to balance her studies and responsibilities as a social media influencer.

When she saw Musical.ly on Instagram, she wanted to find out what the hype was all about, so she downloaded it.

When the app changed to TikTok, videos started going viral.

She suddenly found herself in the role of social media influencer and soon realised that people enjoy the content that she created.

Since joining TikTok in 2017, she has had the privilege of working with major brands like Cosmopolitan, Levi’s, Lamborghini, POPL, Warner Music, REVOLVE, Samsung, GHD and Netflix, to name but a few.

In 2020, the local internet sensation was nominated for a Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award in the Africa Social Media Star Category, alongside another South African, “Aunty Shamilla” – comedian Prev Reddy.

Currently the 21-year-old is busy with interviews and final preparations for the #NetMATRIEKS boat cruise in December and finalising some other exciting projects she is working on.

She also recently became a brand ambassador for the brand-new perfume brand, Tapputi Luxury Perfumes.

Chané believes in constantly challenging herself to step out of her comfort zone and wants to continue growing her platform and acting career and put it to good use.
