Still no sign of kidnapped Centurion businessman
There is still no sign of kidnapped Centurion businessman and father, Ranga Gova (35).
The distraught family of the kidnapped Centurion businessman and father says there is still no sign of him.
Ranga Gova (35) was kidnapped while driving his wife’s car on his way home at around 20:00 on Thursday, November 3, at the Midstream Mediclinic traffic lights.
According to the Gova family, the kidnappers haven’t contacted the family yet.
Ranga’s wife, Mamelo Mareko, told Rekord that the family was still devastated by last week’s developments.
“We are really sad about what happened, but we are really happy that people are calling and trying to help us find him. We haven’t had any leads so far that will help us find him,” Mareko said.
She said she suspected the kidnapping was linked to his fuel business.
“We don’t know to be quite honest because he’s not the type of person who does any shady business. Whatever he does is a clean business, so we don’t know what it could be.”
Mareko revealed that at the time of the abduction, Gova was returning home from the golf course, where he had had coffee.
“He went to golf. He usually plays golf. Afterwards, he had coffee there and then told us he was heading straight home,” Mareko said.
The couple has been together for almost six years and has a two-year-old daughter.
According to Mareko, his family was still trying to come to terms with what had happened.
“My daughter-in-law and I are still in shock. We are devastated and we don’t know what to do. The kidnappers have not contacted us and the police are telling us they are still looking,” Ranga’s mother, Otilia, said.
She described her son as a gentle human being who wouldn’t hurt a soul.
Otilia said she didn’t understand why anyone would kidnap her son.
CCTV footage of the kidnapping has surfaced, wherein Ranga is seen driving up to the intersection in a grey Mercedes Benz CLA200D. A vehicle is seen stopping parallel to him and a second behind him.
The kidnappers then exit the car, grab him, put him in the other car and then speed off.
The intersection is only a minute’s drive from Ranga’s home.
The family urged everyone who might have information about the kidnapping to contact the police.
The Mercedes Benz was discovered a short distance from the couple’s home last Saturday.
The Olifantsfontein police are investigating a case of kidnapping.
