Four drug dealers among 56 arrested in one week alone
Rietgat police spokesperson says the arrest of the four suspected drug dealers shows that the station is winning the battle against drugs.
Four drug dealers were among the 56 people arrested by the Rietgat police during the crime prevention operations last week.
Spokesperson Captain Stephen Maluleka said 22 people were arrested between Monday and Wednesday and 34 between Thursday and Sunday.
The spokesperson said the station and the community were winning the war against drugs following the arrest of four suspected drug dealers.
“This effort continues to show that the police are really winning the battle against drugs in the township,” he said.
Maluleka said there were arrests also for:
- possession of suspected stolen property,
- rape, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
- contravention of protection order.
- common assault related to domestic violence,
- possession of drugs.
- dealing in drugs.
- housebreaking and theft, intimidation.
- carjacking, common robbery and malicious damage to property.
“We are still ensuring that transgressors are put behind bars while enforcing law and order and ensuring the safety and security of the people,” he said.
All the suspects are expected to appear in the Soshanguve magistrate’s court soon.
Station commander Brigadier Molatelo Maphoto warned wanted suspects that the station will never rest until they are brought to book.
“We will arrest everyone on our wanted list, no one will evade the long arm of the law forever,” Maphoto said.
