Local women’s charity needs your help

The NGO invites the community to volunteer their expertise to the foundation.

Running an NGO is not easy as the organisation is expected to support various causes, and those causes differ based on focus and resources.

This is the dilemma that Basadi Ba Moshito was facing championing the plight of vulnerable women and survivors of gender-based violence.

Speaking to Rekord, Basadi CEO Antoinette Maluleke said in order for her organisation to continue with its good work it needed necessities such as food and personal care items.

“For the festive season, we will need more food and lots of personal items like sanitary towels and cosmetics, as we deal with women,” Maluleke added.

She said the major necessities at the moment were laptops, sewing machines, stationery, printing cartridges and a projector.

Maluleke said that Basadi faced difficulties during the year but managed to see it through.

“At the moment one of our biggest challenges is transport. Basadi wants to cover all of Pretoria and as many women as possible, but we don’t have cars. It would benefit us greatly if we had transport to take our skills development programme on the road,” the CEO said.

Maluleke said residents who wanted to contribute to Basadi but don’t have financial resources, can volunteer their expertise to the foundation.

People who want to make a contribution to Basadi can contact Harmony Malope on 082 801 325.
