NGOs need donations

They would like to make Christmas and the new year easier for people in need.

Ga-Rankuwa charity Faith and Hope Foundation needs help to make Christmas special for those in need.

Founder Faith Sebeko said her aim is to give needy children in her community a decent meal for Christmas and gifts.

The foundation is planning to host a Christmas party and need help setting this up.

“We need a tent, tables and chairs, decor and groceries for the day including food and drinks,” she said.

“Anyone willing to sponsor the event will be highly appreciated.”

She added that during this time of the year, schools are closed and those who rely on the school feeding scheme don’t have anything to eat.

“We need to feed them once a day. We need necessities such as rice, pasta, tinned-food, cooking oil, vegetables, soya mince, maize meal, bread, butter, jam, peanut butter, milk and juice,” she said.

Sebeko urged the community to come and volunteer by feeding the children.

She added that lack of funding and donations were big challenges at the foundation.

“Sometimes we don’t get any donations. We plead with those who can assist to help us keep the home going,” she said.

Meanwhile, Thusanang NGO has started preparing for 2023.

Founder Koketso Mpumelelo Moamedi said they have started a drive to collect stationery for next year for those in need.

“We need support from the community to make this a success and we would appreciate it if they can help us with donations,” she said.
