Varsity College donates 12 computers to primary school
The project aims to uplift the local community and help underprivileged primary school children.
Nantes primary school recently received a 12-computer donation for its computer lab to close the year on a high note.
Learners were also treated to a fun day with jumping castles, music by a DJ, dancing, games and goodie bags.
This fun and engaging event was hosted by The IIE’s Varsity College as part of its Khumo (kid heroes under the mentorship of others) partnership with the school.
This project is private tertiary education institution The IIE’s Varsity College & IIE MSA’s national CSI initiative, which was launched this year to focus on community upliftment through local empowerment.
It achieves this by collaborating with various stakeholders and communities to help underprivileged primary school children.
“Our school governing body, staff and learners are very grateful for your kindness and generosity especially during such tough economic times.
“The fun our little ones had on the day meant a lot to them,” said school principal Lucretia Griffiths.
The Pretoria campus of the institution adopted Nantes primary as its Khumo partner.
The year-end party was one of three engagements that have already taken place with the school thus far.
The first was the Khumo launch, the second was a visit by some The IIE’s Varsity College Pretoria staff and students on International Literacy Day.
They read to the Grade R’s and donated 69 books to learners in different grades as part of the literacy initiative “For the love of reading” spearheaded by Khumo.
