Child Protection hosts first annual golf day
The golf event will be held annually on December 1 at Centurion Country Club.
The National Centre for Child Protection (NCCP) hosted its first golf day over the weekend at Centurion Country Club.
The golf day was held under the theme of 16 Days of Activism for no violence against women and children.
CEO Dannie Loggerenberg said the event was aimed at creating awareness of child protection.
Loggerenberg said NCCP wouldn’t have been able to do its work effectively without the help of stakeholders.
“We would not be able to do our jobs if it weren’t for the SAPS and CPF units that assist us when we pick up the phone to get a child in need the help they seek,” he said.
Lyttelton SAPS spokesperson Captain Dave Miller said it was a privilege to attend such functions, as they solidify the relationship between police and residents.
“We pledge our support to NCCP, as they strive to make sure that kids are protected, free from drugs and abuse. Both entities are for the security of children, so this partnership will go a long way,” Miller added.
Dayna Rowland marketing director at NCCP said she was pleased with the turnout, adding that the next golf day will be bigger and better.
“The turnout was better than we could have ever expected and we are so thankful for all who attended and participated,” Rowland added.
Loggerenberg said he was particularly proud that his organisation continues to make a difference with the little at its disposal.
“We have recently launched a 24-hour free counselling hotline and services are free of charge.”
The day ended with a dinner and prize giving where each player received a goodie bag and the third edition of Child Protection magazine, which features real cases and stories by trained professionals.
The organisation launched the magazine in September.
According to NCCP, the golf event will be held annually on December 1 at Centurion Country Club.
