Police launch manhunt for baby snatcher
The suspect was wearing a pair of black leggings, a floral vest, hat, black mask and floppy shoes

Mamelodi police are searching for a woman who allegedly stole a four-day-old baby boy on the afternoon of January 17.
Mother Nomza Khoza (26) of Nellmapius ext. 24 is pleading with the person who took her baby boy to bring him back.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Sam Shibambo confirmed the Mamelodi police had launched a manhunt for the woman.
Shibambo said it was alleged the 26-year-old mother was approached by a pregnant woman, dark in complexion, speaking Zimbabwean Tsonga at Phahameng clinic in Mamelodi.
“The suspect allegedly asked the victim to accompany her to the Tshwane regional mall in Mamelodi as she wanted to buy clothes for her unborn baby,” said Shibambo.
Khoza said the suspect told her the nurses at the clinic booked her a bed at Mamelodi hospital where they will be waiting to admit her to give birth in the evening.
“She desperately needed someone to accompany her to buy newborn clothes either at Denlyn mall or Tshwane regional mall,” said Khoza.
Shibambo said the two boarded a taxi and when they arrived at the mall, the suspect had asked the mother to go find a security guard who could make the Money Market withdrawal for her as she didn’t have an ID.

“The mother left the baby with the suspect and when she returned, the woman was gone with her baby.”
She enlisted the help of the mall security to search for the suspect and the baby but their search was unsuccessful.
The suspect is in her early 30s, dark in complexion, medium-built and speaks Zimbabwean Tsonga.
She was wearing a pair of black leggings, a floral vest, hat, black mask and floppy shoes.
The SAPS in Mamelodi is making an appeal to parents not to leave their children in the care of strangers irrespective of how friendly they seem.
