Local exhibition showcases breath-taking postcard-size art
South African artists praised for displaying top-class artworks at Pretoria’s art gallery.
More than 60 artists from all over the country are showcasing their postcard-sized artworks at the Johann van Heerden’s Art and Gallery in the east of Pretoria.
The fifth annual postcard exhibition officially opened on January 15 and it is scheduled to end on January 31, this year.
According to gallery director Miekie Lourens, the aim of the exhibition was to provide South African artists with an opportunity to have fun in December after a whole year of hard work.
“The idea is that artists create postcard-sized works over December and then send them to be showcased in the annual event,” said Lourens.
She said the exhibition was of great advantage to residents who love arts because it provided them an opportunity to buy postcard-size artworks from top South African artists at affordable prices.
