North police arrest 18 in intelligence-driven operation
Stolen property to the value of R352 000, elicit cigarettes valued at R5 500 and 97 bottles of medicine were seized and drugs with a street value of R26 185 was confiscated.
Police have, through intelligence-driven operations, arrested 18 people for committing various serious crimes in Pretoria.
The arrests saw the recovery of six firearms, three hijacked cars and two stolen cars.
Stolen property to the value of R352 000, elicit cigarettes valued at R5 500 and 97 bottles of medicine were seized and drugs with a street value of R26 185 confiscated.
Acting on information received, one man was arrested and charged with the possession of unlicensed firearms. According to the tip-off the man had been involved in an armed robbery and had an unlicensed firearm.
The operational team secured the premises and found the man in possession of the firearm.
District police commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Azwinndini Nengovhela applauded all officers who were involved in these operations for the long and difficult circumstances they operated in.
“Your perseverance in these arrests shows your commitment to protecting the citizens of this district,” he said.
Law enforcement in Tshwane has been on the ground to bring suspects to book where officers have arrested hundreds of suspects weekly through their multidisciplinary operation, he reiterated.
