Community tip leads to Centurion ‘drug factory’ bust
Three suspects were arrested in Centurion for dealing in drugs, manufacturing suspected drugs and being in the country illegally.

A tip-off from a community member led to the police successfully raiding a “drug factory” at a residential complex in Centurion on Wednesday.
Three persons were arrested for dealing in narcotics, the manufacturing of suspected drugs and being in the country illegally, according to police spokesperson Warrant-Officer Johan van Dyk.
The raid, involving officers from a multi-disciplinary task team, came about after police received information about alleged drug dealing and possible human trafficking activities at the units in the complex.
Several specialised SAPS units from the Tshwane district, including crime intelligence, the drug task team, detectives and SAPS officers from the national joint operational centre were assembled to form the multi-disciplinary task team.
Team members observed the three units at the complex that were suspected of being used for illicit activities to plan and execute the operation, which was held at 06:00 on the day.

Van Dyk said, “several chemicals and equipment that are used to manufacture narcotics were found”.
Police could dismantle the “drugs factory” at the scene.
“A container containing crystal meth with an estimated R4 000 street value was found in a car.”

Van Dyk said that one of the suspects was allegedly involved in human trafficking, adding that police will follow up on all information.
After the raid, forensic teams were called to the scene to process the crime scene.

District commissioner Major-General Azwindini Nengovhela thanked the officers that participated in the operation.
“With active community partnerships we will be able to arrest these criminals and bring them to book,” he said.
