Pilot dies in aircraft crash near Centurion
“On arrival, a light fixed-wing aircraft was found to have crashed into a river.”

An aircraft crash left one dead on Wednesday morning in the Knoppieslaagte area near the N14 highway in Centurion.
According to Emer-G-Med, the crash happened around 08:00, just adjacent to the highway.
“Upon arrival, a light fixed-wing aircraft was found to have crashed into a river,” the paramedic service said in a statement.
“The pilot, who was the only occupant of the aircraft, was declared dead on arrival of paramedics.”
The accident is being investigated by the SAPS and civil aviation authorities for further investigation and processing.
Olievenhoutbosch police spokesperson Colonel Adolf Corbett confirmed the incident but could not divulge any details at this stage.
“I can confirm there was an aircraft crash this morning, but I cannot provide more as we are still busy at the accident scene,” Corbett said.
Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso said a water tanker and a rapid intervention unit from the metro responded. Mabaso said.
