Police recover stolen vehicles worth almost R1m in Pretoria West

An undisclosed number of suspects were taken in for questioning in relation to one of the cases.

The Tshwane flying squad recently recovered a stolen Toyota and Honda with a combined worth of R935 000.

An undisclosed number of suspects were taken in for questioning regarding one of the vehicles.

The more recent recovery was of the stolen silver Honda Ballade earlier this week, which police managed to recover in central Pretoria.

“The flying squad is happy to announce the recovery of a vehicle stolen from Eastwood’s. Our members recovered the vehicle suspiciously parked near a house in Atteridgevile,” said flying squad spokesperson Sergeant Alfred Legodi.

The vehicle, worth R35 000, was left unattended on Masoka Street.

Members of the police’s local criminal record centre (LCRC) did not, however, attend to the scene as the heavy rainfall at the weekend and week rendered their identity recovery efforts futile.

The vehicle was then transported to the Pretoria West pound for further processing.

The second recovery took place earlier this month when flying squad members recovered a white Toyota Fortuner, worth R900 000, in Saulsville, Pretoria West.

The vehicle was stolen in Wierdaburg, Centurion and its details had been altered.

“Tracker SA assisted us with the recovery. The LCRC was contacted to assist with processing the scene, which led to the detainment of suspects that were later questioned about the case,” Legodi continued.

The police urge motorists to be cautious, especially when leaving their vehicles unattended or travelling at night.

Residents who want to report a crime or have any information relating to these cases can contact the flying squad at 012 841 0048 or 08000 10111.
