Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso confirmed the road closure, due to high levels of water and debris.
He could not confirm when the streets would be opened to the public again.
Centurion has been troubled by floods for the past few years. In the past few days, the SA weather service has issued numerous weather warnings of flooding.
The service this week issued yet another warning of disruptive rainfall possibly into the weekend.
The service also warned of the possibility of localised flooding of informal and formal settlements.
Earlier this week, the national government declared a national state of disaster to enable an intensive, coordinated response to the impact of floods affecting different provinces.
