No power in the north continues to frustrate residents

"We would like to know what is going on at this point."

Residents in Florauna, Wolmer and Dorandia in the north of Pretoria, who have been without electricity for over 14 hours, were frustrated by a lack of feedback from the Tshwane metro.

Locals said they are fed up with the constant power problems that they have been experiencing as they are left to deal with power cuts and are not exempted from load-shedding either.

Quentin Meyer, a resident, said that every week there is a problem with power in the area and this time they have been without electricity for 14 hours.

“We would like to know what is going on at this point. We have children to raise. Last night I had to bathe my son in cold water, which is ridiculous.”

Another Wolmer resident said that it feels like people are dragging their feet.

“We also have to deal with insane load-shedding schedules. How does it help us as we constantly have to deal with power outages even when we are supposed to have electricity.”

Ward councillor Yolanda Duvenage posted that she was aware of the power outages affecting the area and had submitted all reference numbers received from the metro. She has, however, not received any updates on the issue.

The Tshwane metro had yet to respond at the time of publication.

Earlier this month, Rekord reported that a transformer exploded in Pretoria North, leaving residents of Florauna and Wolmer left without power for hours.

Residents are encouraged to report all power outages to the Tshwane metro on 012 358 9999.
