Man nabbed for stolen vehicle
Upon searching the vehicle, police discovered that the suspect had a silver pistol with one black magazine which had four live rounds, one empty 9mm cartridge and a blank round which the suspect couldn’t account for.

Laudium police arrested a 33-year-old man in the Itereleng informal settlement on Friday for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe said the man was also in possession of an unlicensed firearm as well as ammunition.
“Police spotted a silver Toyota Etios and stopped it.
When police approached, the driver reversed into the vehicle behind then sped off,” Chokoe added.
He said police gave a chase and later cornered the motorist at the informal settlement.
Chokoe further said upon searching the vehicle, police discovered that the suspect had a silver pistol with one black magazine which had four live rounds, one empty 9mm cartridge and a blank round which the suspect couldn’t account for.
“Police preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was stolen in Letlhabile and was recovered. A case of possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunitions was opened at SAPS in Laudium.”

In another incident, two suspects were arrested for possession of drugs, drinking in public, common assault, traffic violation and selling liquor without a licence.
The suspects were aged between 22 and 45.
“SA police service will continue to leave no stone unturned to ensure that those on the wrong side of the law are brought to book,” Chokoe said.
This is part of the ongoing operation Tshwane district police have been embarking on for the past weeks. The operations are part of the police management in getting rid of crime in the city.
This operation is also part of the commitment Laudium station commander made late last year when the local police embarked on a festive campaign.
At the time, residents welcomed police visibility, adding that police should do such operation even during the year.
According to the police, the operation was part of the police’s plan to gain trust from the community as they often complain about police’s lack of visibility.
Recently Laudium police engaged communities and schools through their safety awareness campaign, which they had been conducting since early this year.
