Erasmia and Laudium residents join forces to fix potholes and clean

ActionSA councillor Prajay Ramjee says they managed to fix 18 large potholes alongside many other small ones.

Erasmia and Laudium residents came together on Saturday and Sunday to patch potholes in their area.

ActionSA councillor Prajay Ramjee mobilised the residents, who were determined to make a difference in their communities.

Ramjee said they managed to fix 18 large potholes alongside many other small ones.

He encouraged residents to take control of their environment.

“Working together with PAJ Community Development NPC, we want to make our town a place to be proud of,” he said.

Zaid Moosa, a resident who witnessed the patching of potholes, said “our country would be a better place if our leaders did what councillor Ramjee was doing”.

“I am very proud of our community and the councillor for taking such an initiative. I wouldn’t have thought of doing anything besides complaining with the municipality, but I am prepared to join the team in future,” he said.

Along with the pothole repairs, Ramjee also organised a clean-up campaign.

“Over the last few weeks, many of you might have noticed that the traffic islands at the entrance of Laudium were being unweeded, cleaned up and beautified.”

In addition to cleaning up the town, Ramjee said this was also done for security reasons.
