Laudium police arrest 38-year-old man for dealing drugs

Laudium police arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly dealing in drugs on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Simon Chokoe said officers were patrolling in the area when they spotted two suspicious-looking vehicles parked at Jewel Street.
“They stopped and approached the two motor vehicles; one sped off and the second, a white Suzuki, was cornered and the driver was apprehended.
“Upon searching the vehicle, 12 Ziploc transparent plastic bags containing white powder suspected to be Cat, four packets of Rohypnol 1mg carrying 10 tablets inside and an undisclosed amount of money were found,” Chokoe added.
Chokoe said Laudium police have launched an investigation, adding that a case dealing with drugs has also been opened.
He said that police will continue doing their visibility patrols including stop-and-searches “to ensure that the communities are and feel safe”.
Laudium station commander Lieutenant-Colonel David Sithole applauded community members for their support these past months.
He encouraged community members to continue reporting any illegal and suspicious activities.
“I also want to applaud members of the police force for the sterling job they did. These are men and women who dedicate their lives to making sure the community they serve is kept safe and is rid of criminal activities,” he said.
Sithole further said the partnership between the SAPS and its communities can create a safer environment and communities.
