Two caught with hijacked motorbikes in Olievenhoutbosch

“A tracking company approached the police for backup after they tracked the two hijacked motorbikes to the area,” says spokesperson Sergeant Pretty Mokadi.

Two suspects were allegedly caught red-handed in an Olievenhoutbosch yard where two motorcycles stolen in separate hijackings were being stripped.

Police arrested the men on April 20 in Olievenhoutbosch extension 36.

Spokesperson Sergeant Pretty Mokadi said that two men were arrested after the motorbikes were tracked down by Mzansi Tracker members.

“They approached Olievenhoutbosch police for backup after they tracked the two hijacked motorbikes to the area,” said Mokadi.

The motorbikes were stolen in two recent hijackings.

When police officers arrived at the scene, they found a group of men stripping one of the hijacked motorbikes.

Upon noticing the police and tracker company members, the suspects tried to flee the scene.

Police managed to catch one of the men.

The second motorbike was then tracked to a room located on the same property some metres away.

The owner of the room, where the second bike was found, was arrested as well for possession of the hijacked motorbike.

“Both men were arrested for possession of hijacked motorbikes from different cases.”

Mokadi said that the suspects would appear in court in due course.

She urged Tshwane residents to work with the police and to contact their nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 if they suspected criminal activity.
