Local NPO gives homeless men a second chance

“The NPO has had a lot of challenges such as donor fatigue, we only have one bakkie as transport, there has been lack of local business and community involvement,” the project manager says.

A non-profit organisation, The Life Changing Projects is helping homeless men in the north of Pretoria to get back on their feet.

“The organisation is all about seeing a broken man getting his dignity back, to provide for himself and being a positive and productive man in the community,” said project manager Tebogo Mpufane.

The organisation does a lot of intervention projects that seeks to provide ongoing critical psychological support to men through sheltering, skills development, job creation and programmes that focus on prevention, early intervention and rehabilitation.

Mpufane said that their 23 beneficiaries are under the EPWP Tshwane city programme cleaning council offices, clinics based in region 1.

“We have beneficiaries that are about to graduate for the artisan and computer literacy courses, held by one of our stakeholders Godisanang based in Soshanguve block T,” Mpufane continued.

“We also have occupational therapy level 4 students studying anger management, time management, building self-esteem programme and social workers that deal with mainly the social services that beneficiaries need,” he said.

He added that the beneficiaries is in need of clothes and shoes.

“A person wishing to be part of the programme can just walk in at the gate and be welcomed or be referred by someone.
