Wollies celebrates 10-year anniversary
Wollies is having a 10th year celebration and invites residents to join in.

Wollies animal shelter will celebrate 10 years of being a home to abused and neglected animals on Saturday, May 27.
“Wollies is having a 10th year celebration and we are inviting residents to join us in celebrating the home of animals’’ says Cilla Trexla, founder of Wollies.

The shelter has taken care of thousands of animals over the years and continues to.

WOLLIES BEGINNINGS
It all began with the promotion of sterilisation for abandoned animals and those owned by poor people at an affordable price in 2013.
“The initial plan or aim of the shelter is to rescue and rehabilitate unwanted, abused and neglected animals,” she said.
“The shelter had around 160 dogs and 80 cats on its first-year birthday to the current 1 000 dogs and 500 cats on its 10th year birthday.”
Trexla said there would be entertainment to keep the young ones busy on the day.
“We’ll be having face painting, jumping castles, a soft playing area, ponies and competitions,’’ she continued.
She said festivities start at 08:00 with walking a Wollies dog and residents are advised to also visit the shelter’s beautiful cattery to cuddle and spoil the cats.
