Girl learners visit central police

This will be a continuous effort by the station to assist schools, minimise criminal activity in schools and also address social ills.

Northwood high school learners recently visited the Pretoria Central SAPS station in the CBD as part of the station’s Take A Girl Child to Work day.

The visit aimed to teach the young learners how a police station operates and further educate them on career paths they can pursue within the organisation.

“This is part of the initiatives that have been set aside by both the Department of Education and the South African Police Service to ensure that schools remain a safe space for both learners and educators,” said police spokesperson Constable Thabang Nkhumise.

“Seventeen female learners were taken to various components within the station, where they had an opportunity to interact with police members and staff. This also created a platform where they were given an opportunity to ask questions.”

The station commander Brigadier MM Dladla welcomed the visit, stating that it brings great delight to the police to see women climbing the corporate ladder and being given equal opportunities as their male counterparts.

“It’s great to see in the national structure women that hold top positions within the state and we would like to see more women steering this ship in various security entities as well,” Brigadier Dladla commented.

This will be a continuous effort by the station to assist schools, minimise criminal activity in schools and also address social ills.
