Pretoria Legacy Foundation to host fun run
The fun run/walk will be on June 4 at the Laudium sports grounds as the foundation celebrates 163 years since the arrival of Indian nationals in the country in 1860.
The Pretoria Legacy Foundation is set to celebrate the legacy of its forebears with a fun run.
The fun run/walk will be on June 4 at the Laudium sports grounds as the foundation celebrates 163 years since the arrival of Indian nationals in the country in 1860.
“We believe it is important to trace back the origins of our forebears through the celebration of various events to honour their legacy,” the foundation said in a press release.
The committee will focus on education, business, sport, culture, youth and community unification-building projects in the Eersterust and Laudium communities.
As part of celebrating local stalwarts and heroines, the foundation would display their images at the Laudium sports ground.
The foundation also wants to honour those who contributed to the development and administration of sports during the apartheid days.
“The focus will be on Lady Selborne and Claremont as well as other areas in the metro. The sporting legends, if still alive, will be present with their families to tell their stories to visitors and guests.”
The day will also feature stalls selling various items and entertainment provided by the Muslim Brigade.
Gauteng MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture Morakane Mosupyoe is also expected to attend the event as one of the dignitaries and other sports personalities.
“The formal programme will include speeches by guest speakers we have invited such as Fakir Hassen and Docky Dockrat.”
