Two suspects arrested for possession of drugs
One suspect was in possession of nyaope with an estimated street value of R28 000.
Metro police arrested two people for drug possession on Tuesday in Hammanskraal.
Spokesperson Superintendent Isaac Mahamba said one suspect was found dealing with nyaope with an estimated street value of R28 000.
“The second suspect was dealing with dagga and was also found in possession of suspected stolen property, which included flat-screen TVs,” Mahamba added.
The two are expected to appear in court soon.
This follows the major arrest of a notorious criminal in the past week. The suspect was wanted for crimes such as murder, ATM bombings, house robberies and assault.
The suspect was also seen in a video strangling a child to death during a house robbery, according to Mahamba.
Mahamba warned other drug dealers that the unit will make sure they get arrested and the law will take its course.
He urged residents to assist by coming forward with information if they know any drug dealers and to report any suspicion of fraud, corruption or other irregular conduct to TMPD on 080 TSHWANE (080 874 9263). Residents can do so anonymously, he added.
Acting Chief of Police Basil Nkhwashu has expressed his gratitude to the tactical unit that continued to work hard to fight crime in Tshwane.
“The TMPD will continue to combat crime in Tshwane,” Nkhwashu concluded.
