Water supply interruptions set for Monday
“Rand Water notified the Water and Sanitation Department that they need to replace and upgrade the bulk water meter supplying the Olievenhoutbosch and Mnandi reservoirs.”
The Tshwane metro has issued a warning of water supply interruptions expected to affect parts of Centurion.
THE WORK IS SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY, JUNE 19, AND WILL TAKE PLACE FROM 09:00 TO 21:00.
“Rand Water notified the water and sanitation department that they need to replace and upgrade the bulk water meter supplying the Olievenhoutbosch and Mnandi reservoirs,” the metro’s group head for water and sanitation, Stephens Notoane, said in a statement.
The Mnandi reservoir will be filled to the maximum before the shutdown.
Notoane said that areas on the western side of Centurion would be affected, such as Sunderland Ridge, Raslouw, Hennops River, Swartkop and Olievenhoutbosch.
THE AREAS THAT ARE EXPECTED TO BE AFFECTED ARE:
– Acsionville
– Brakfontein
– Doornrandje
– Gerhardsville
– Hennops River
– Heuweloord
– Hoekplaats
– Honeypark
– Knopjeslaagte
– Mnandi
– Monavoni
– Mooiplaats
– Olievenhoutbosch
– Peach Tree
– Raslouw
– Stukgrond
– Sunderland Ridge
– Swartkop
– Vlakplaats
HE SAID RESIDENTS SHOULD SAVE WATER BEFORE AND DURING THE OUTAGE WITH THE FOLLOWING TIPS:
1. No watering gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems from 06:00 to 18:00.
2. No washing vehicles with hosepipes.
3. No filling of swimming pools.
4. Use grey water to water gardens and flush toilets.
5. Report water leaks, burst pipes and water wastage.
6. Use a broom instead of a hosepipe when cleaning driveways or patios.
7. Take a short shower instead of a bath.
8. Close a running tap while brushing your teeth or shaving.
9. Check toilets and taps for leaks.
“Residents are urged to make [these] water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle,” Notoane’s statement read.
