These talents are perfect to bring a bit of excitement to your weekend.

Jo Black, June 23

Local legend Jo Black is about to leave for his tour of international stages in July.

So this appearance looks set to be his last in Pretoria en route to Bloemfontein.

Jo Black, well-known across South Africa, recently published his memoir Die Storie Agter die Storie.

Jo Black will be performing at Jitterbugz in Centurion on Friday at 20:00.

C-Storm, June 24


Carel Sebastiaan, popularly known as C-Storm, presents his show Die Donkerkant van die Maan at the Centurion Theatre from 19:30 on Saturday.

A carefully crafted collection of English and Afrikaans pieces by the FAK award-winning singer, songwriter and poet, will feature in the show that promises themes of love, suffering and inspiration.

Every person finds themselves on the dark side of the moon sometimes.

Johan Fourie Band, June 24

Johan Fourie tells Rekord he has had a love for music his entire life, and has been making it since he was 16.

Naturally, he had to form a band to bring his party rock to your ears fresh from the source.

The Pretoria-based band has been making the rounds at various private events bringing high energy unforgettable entertainment.

Catch Johan Fourie Band at Jan se Skuld in Montana on Saturday from 17:00.

The UFO Experience, June 24

This Jozi band has been lurking in the mysterious depths of the underground local music scene since 2003.

The band says its production is improvisational, styled on the experimental and experiential music of jam bands like the Grateful Dead, Gong, The Doors and The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

Get all in for the full experience at Jarr Bar on Saturday from 19:00.

Alouise, June 25

This local talent knows the value of the hard grind, regularly performing at venues big and small as much as she can.

Alouise Peens recently released her debut single Dis Jy. No stranger to the scene, Alouise has many collaborations, including securing herself a spot as bassist for Bok van Blerk.

Check her out on Sunday at 11:00 at BusStop7 Open Air Market near Mooikloof.

 

David Watkins, June 25

This SAMA-winning Cape Town artist is bringing the release of his solo album No Other Love to Railways Café in Irene this Sunday.

The album is a collection of love songs, with his usual nostalgic production, catchy melodies and soaring lyrics.

You might not remember his name, but you most likely know his work on Springbok Nude Girls and performances with Arno Carstens.
