Two critical on R21 late-night accident
Two children seated at the back of the vehicle sustained only minor injuries when a car crashed into the back of a truck.
Two adults in their 20s sustained critical injuries in an accident on the R21 near the Olifantsfontein off-ramp.

The accident happened late on Tuesday night.
Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said that when paramedics arrived on the scene, they found that a light motor vehicle crashed into the back of a truck.
Van Reenen said that an adult male and female aged in their 20s were found trapped in the front of the vehicle.
Two children, an eight-year-old and a four-year-old, were seated at the back.
He said that the two adults “sustained critical injuries and advanced life support intervention was needed to stabilise them before they were cut free from the wreckage using the jaws of life”.
“Two minors seated in the back suffered minor injuries only and were treated and stabilised on the scene.”
Van Reenen said that the patients were then taken to a nearby hospital for further care.
Motorists are advised to keep in mind these nighttime driving safety tips provided by Automobile Association (AA):
– Have a clear route planned.
– Ensure your headlights and brake lights are in working order. If towing, make sure the brake lights and indicators are connected properly and are functioning well.
– Keep rear and front windscreens clean and make sure your defogger is working.
– Avoid keeping your gaze focused at a single distance, as this can cause eye fatigue.
– Turn your headlights on before sunset and keep them on after sunrise.
– Don’t blind other motorists with your headlights.
– Maintain a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead of you.
– Drive slower at night.
– Ensure you are well rested before getting behind the wheel at night.
