Tshwane Flying Squad recover four stolen vehicles in the north worth over half a million

Motorists urged to invest in car tracking to minimize the risk of loosing their car.

The Tshwane police flying squad recently recovered four stolen vehicles in the north of Pretoria.

The total value of the four recovered vehicles is estimated at R600 000, according to police spokesperson Sergeant Alfred Legodi.

VECHILE 1: VW AMAROK BAKKIE

The officers first recovered a white VW Amarok bakkie valued at R290 000.

“The double cap bakkie was abandoned next to Lethlabile police,” Legodi said.

He said information at their disposal suggested that the car was hijacked in Winterveldt as per Loate police case.

“Cartrack played a great role in tracing the car and it was then impounded to PTA west pound for further analysis,” he said.

VEHICLE 2: HYUNDAI H100 TRUCK

The squad was not done as they intercepted a Hyundai H100 truck behind Masemola Christian church in Beirut.

“The vehicle recovered is in connection to a vehicle theft case reported at Loate police, and has a value of R90 000,” Legodi said.

The fingerprint expert was summoned to analyse the vehicle before it was taken to the Pretoria West police impound,” Legodi continued.

VEHICLE 3: VW POLO TSI

Another recovery was when the members through the help of Cartrack traced a silver VW Polo TSI to Winterveldt.

The Polo is valued at R120 000 and was reportedly hijacked in Mamelodi East recently.

“The car was found parked in a garage at a certain home but no suspect was around,” Legodi said.

“The car was taken to PTA west impound and a probe will be launched to find the house owners which will help solve this case,” he added.

VEHICLE 4: VW POLO VIVO

He said their last discovery in the north was when they traced a silver VW Polo Vivo to Hammanskraal.

The vehicle is valued at R100 000.

It was reported stolen in Pretoria North this month.

Legodi said the vehicle was found parked in a garage as well and fitted with false plate numbers.

The car was recovered through cartrack.

“An investigation is open to determine if the car was not used in a commission of a crime since it was found fitted with false plates.”

Motorists are urged to ensure that their vehicles are locked properly before leaving them and also consider investing in a tracking device.

He urged residents with information to contact Tshwane police flying squad on 012 841 0048 or send an anonymous tip-off on MySapsApp.
