Water tankers to continue to supply in Soshanguve, Mabopane as local reservoir recovers

The network system is progressively filling up as a result of the restoration of the Hartebeeshoek Reservoir, which supplies Soshanguve and Mabopane.

The Hartebeeshoek reservoir is now back in operation and the network system is gradually filling up.

Rand Water recently sent a confirmation to Tshwane metro that it had completed the scouring operation at the reservoir that supplies Soshanguve and Mabopane.

Bokaba said the metro experienced inadequate water supply to the reservoir after maintenance work by the water utility, as of the week of July 12.

“The utility made serious efforts to supply water through a bypass method, which also experienced challenges that resulted in an outage,” he added.

He said in spite of the latest developments, water tankers will remain in place, especially in areas currently without water and the deployment of tankers will continue to be carried out in conjunction with councillors.

Below are the current reservoir levels in Region 1:

– Mabopane Central 1.16%

– Mabopane Main 18%

– Mabopane 2.59%

– Sosha L North 3%

– Sosha L South 17%

– Sosha DD 24%

Bokaba said with the stated progress, it is hoped that the mostly affected residents will receive water soon, and the reservoirs will recover and stabilise in the coming week.
